JOB TITLE: Associate Vice President, Business Development
This position is responsible for leading and executing the global commercial business development activities which support overall strategic and business objectives. The role identifies, investigates, and analyzes new opportunities for strategic fit with our business goals. As a member of the Senior Management Team, this role plays an integral part in the business development activities in the expansion of our product portfolio.
1. Manages all elements of Taro business development including setting strategy and execution of plans
2. Commercial interface with regulatory, manufacturing and legal for promotional efforts
3. Recommends solutions for performance improvement and potential areas for further development of staff
4. Identifies trendsetting ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements
5. Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities
6. Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities
7. Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals
8. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
9. Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
10. Monitors competitor products and sales activities. Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners
11. Guides preparation of business development activity reports and presents to executive management.
12. Establishes and cultivates relationships with the pharma community, associations and key opinion leaders to support business development efforts
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred, in business, life sciences from an accredited college or university
10-15 years’ experience in a business development role within the pharmaceutical industry
Global experience preferred
Energetic self-starter with strong executive presence, detail and results orientation and ability to work effectively in a driven environment.
As a member of Taro’s Senior Management Team, can gain the trust and respect of team members
Possess a strong network of business development contacts
Comfortable managing all aspects of business development in a pharma environment
Outstanding verbal, written, multi-tasking and presentation skills required
Demonstration of sustained, high performance in current and past positions
Demonstrated teamwork ability through effective working relationships
